- On the heals of absorbing man, this is my next custom - QUICK KICK from the GIJOE television series. I created this mugg for the "Mugg Showdown VI " competition held regularly over at the mightymuggsforum.
- Quick Kick was my first joe, and he's been my favorite even since. Even now, i can't help but chuckle every time i see an episode with him diving headlong into a battle against guys armed with lasers - and he's kicking butt with his Nunchaku, sword, and Shuriken ! too cool... epic, even.
- I tried sticking almost entirely to the brush this time, painting almost the entire mugg by hand with airbrush acyrlics (they actually flow really well and are quite opaque!). the only exception was a few taped lines for his wrist wraps and pants, but even then most of it was cut-in by brush afterward by hand. I really wanted to speed up the process, and it worked - this guy only took 8 hours design to completion, far less than absorbing man's meticulous "stencil" technique demanded.
- I also tried designing the mugg to reflect the styling of mighty muggs more than any mugg i've done. i really wanted to try to make something you might actually see on the toy isle (hint, hint, Hasbro...).
- His Nunchaku were made with two dowels and a length of hobby scale chain (same used for absorbing man), glued in place.
- Hope all of you loyal viewers out there enjoy him as much as i enjoyed making him.
