- Well, it's been a while, and though i've started a few more customs since usagi, this is the first i've managed to finish... no doubt because there was a deadline! I created this mugg for the "Mugg Showdown" competition held regularly over at the mightymuggsforum.
- Crusher Creel, known in the Marvel universe as The Absorbing Man, is unique in that he can absorb whatever powers or materials he comes in contact with. His first appearance as "Crusher Creel" was Journey Into Mystery #114, and he has appeared off and on in many other series over the years.
- I chose to try to combine several of my favorite transformations that he has undergone, which include: absorbing the power of a ship's turbines (avengers #183), absorbing captain america's shield (avengers #184), and absorbing the earth itself (jouney into mystery #115). each of those scenes is pictured below, for your convenience.
- As with usagi, i decided to stick with the "stencil & air-brush" technique, using brush work for clean-up and fine details. i also tried designing the mugg to reflect the styling of mighty muggs as much as possible... essentially, i wanted to try to make something you might actually see on the toy isle.
- His ball and chain were made from a ping-pong ball, and scale chain from a hobby shop. the ping-pong ball proved to be the most challenging thing to spray, as it is virtually weightless, and is round...
- 35 hours, concept to completion - Hope all of you loyal viewers out there enjoy him as much as i enjoyed making him.
